4cupswater for boiling
Instructions
Cut florets from the crown of fresh broccoli into small pieces (as we described earlier).
Prepare a bowl with cold water and ice; put it next to your stove.
Take a large pot with water and put it over high heat. Add a teaspoon of salt (you need 1 teaspoon for 1 liter of water) and wait until the water comes to a boil.
Put broccoli florets into boiling water and let them cook for 1.5 minutes. If you like softer vegetables, leave them in the water for 3 minutes. You always have an option to test broccoli with a knife or fork or just taste it yourself.
Take broccoli out of the boiled water and put it immediately into a bowl of cold water. This step will help you to stop the cooking process (while staying hot after boiling, vegetables continue their cooking process inside out). It will make your broccoli crunchy, and its color will remain vibrant green. Let it stay in the cold water until it entirely cools down (approximately for 5 minutes).
