Ingredients
1cupuncooked millet;
2cupsmilk;
2cupswater;
a pinch of salt;
sugar to your taste; (1 tbsp.)
1-2tbspsunsalted butter.
Instructions
As with every grain, you should rinse the millet thoroughly before boiling it on the stove in the pot. Sometimes I use a colander and rinse millet under running water, I have placed the grain in a deep bowl, covered it with water, used my hands to stir it several times, and then drained the water. My advice would be to add water until it is clear when drained. At least three times.
Now, add rinsed millet to the pot and cover it with the amount of water that was listed in the ingredients. Put it on the high heat on the stove.
When water boils, lower the heat until the water starts simmering (on my stove it is the lowest heat). Season porridge with a pinch of salt. Cover the pot with a lid. It can take up to 15 minutes to get rid of water.
Pour preheated milk into the pot with boiled millet.
Wait until the milk boils and then adjust the heat so that the milk will be slightly simmering.
Cook millet porridge for an additional 15 minutes on the stove. Try to stir constantly to avoid burning of porridge to the surface.
Season porridge with the desired amount of sugar and unsalted butter. Cover the pot with a lid and set aside for 5-10 minutes before serving.
