Cornmeal Porridge Ingredients:

Ingredients for Cornmeal Porridge

  • 100 g cornmeal;
  • 200 ml water;
  • 200 ml milk;
  • 10 g unsalted butter;
  • 10 g sugar (or to your taste);
  • a pinch of salt.

How long should cornmeal porridge boil? On average, you cook cornmeal for 30 minutes (10-15 minutes in water and 15 minutes in milk). Do not forget to leave it for 10 minutes to sit before serving.

What is the ratio of cornmeal to liquid in porridge? Use 1 cup of cornmeal for 4 cups of liquid (here I count both the amount of water together with milk). If you like runnier porridge in the consistency then combine 1 cup of cornmeal with 5 cups of liquid.

What goes well with cornmeal porridge? Honey, your favorite jam, different fruits, especially the dried ones and nuts. I also like boiling cornmeal with butternut squash. It turns out very delicious.

What is the alternative to milk in porridge? Almond and coconut milk are my top choices. On the other hand, you can substitute milk for water.
