Are you seeking something truly special and delightful to enhance your festive menu? Or perhaps you’re tired of the same old salads? If so, you’re in for a treat! I’m thrilled to share a mouthwatering recipe for chicken salad that features the sweet richness of prunes and the satisfying crunch of walnuts. This unique combination will not only tantalize your taste buds but also add a touch of elegance and surprise to your dining experience.
The key to this salad is layering each ingredient and spreading the dressing carefully between them. Everything works together harmoniously, enhancing each other’s flavors. The combination of tangy prunes and the slight tartness of walnuts creates an amazing pairing with boiled chicken fillet.
To add some acidity and juiciness, add grated apples. When shopping for apples, opt for green ones that’re more tart than sweet. The recipe suggests using mayo for the dressing, but you can also use sour cream, plain yogurt, or a mix of these options. Enjoy!

From the very first bite, you’ll savor the unforgettable, delicate flavor of this salad and find yourself falling in love with it. Preparing the salad is quite simple, and both your family and guests will admire its presentation and delicious taste.

Ingredients for Layered Salad:

- 250 g chicken breast;
- 150 g prunes;
- 70 g hard cheese;
- 50 g walnuts;
- 2 eggs;
- 1 apple;
- 70 g mayonnaise;
- Salt to your taste.
How to make chicken salad with prunes and walnuts in layers:
- Precook chicken fillet. Boil chicken breast in boiling salted water for 20 minutes. You can add a bay leaf and black peppercorns to add some extra flavor. Let the chicken cool down before shredding it with hands or cutting it into small cubes.

- Cook hard-boiled eggs. I have a detailed guide on how you can boil perfect eggs; just follow the link. Cut them into small cubes, too.

- Cut dried prunes into the smallest pieces you can. If they are too dried, then let them sit in hot boiled water for 10 minutes. Grind walnuts in a blender to pieces of the medium size.

- Peel the apple, cut out the kernels. Grate hard cheese and the apple using the same size of the grater.

- When you have got all the ingredients ready, let form our salad. Take a flat plate and place the ring mold. The first layer to go will be the chicken fillet. Smear it with the mayo.

- The next one is the pieces of chopped dried prunes. Finish the layer by topping it with mayonnaise.

- Layer chopped eggs and mayo next.

- Evenly spread grated apple and cover it with a thin layer of mayo.

- Spread evenly grated cheese and add the final layer of mayo.

- Garnish your layered salad with ground walnuts. Leave the salad in the fridge for an hour. The mayo between the layers will soak and help to incorporate all the flavors into one smooth flavor. Enjoy your meal!
