Well, what is Pig in a Blanket? It a simple baked hot dogpuff pastry wrap. And here you go I have already shared the recipe. The list of ingredients is pretty basic and common: puff pastry sheets and hot dogs. To add some mouthwatering color to the baked goods we will smear the top of the pastry with whisked egg and sprinkle sesame seeds for an extra dose of flavorful crunch.
I always have a spear sheet of puff pastry in my freezer for recipes like this. However, if you have a perfect recipe for homemade puff pastry then you can use it instead. I, unfortunately, have never tried to make it at home and store-bought option is just perfect for me.

Ingredients for Pigs in a Blanket:
- 250 g puff pastry sheets;
- 1 egg;
- 10 hot dogs;
- Sesame seeds.
How to make pigs in a puff pastry blanket:
- You need to thaw puff pastry sheets before using them. Take the pastry out of the freezer and leave it in the fridge overnight. Sprinkle some flour over the work surface. Place the puff pastry sheet and sprinkle some extra flour over it, too.
- Roll out the sheet in length with a rolling pin.
- With a knife cut a thin pastry sheet into long stripes 2-3 centimeters wide.
- Roll up each hot dog from top to bottom as shown in the picture.
- Preheat oven at 350ºF/180°C.
- Take a baking tray and cover it with parchment paper. Arrange the rolls evenly leaving some space between them.
- Whisk an egg in a bowl and smear the top surface of each puff pastry roll with an egg mixture.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
- Bake pigs in a blanket for 20-25 minutes until crust becomes golden. Let them cool down before serving!
