 Pasta with shrimps in tender creamy sauce is one of the most popular pasta recipes, for sure. With its easy to make recipe, exquisite taste, and mouth-watering aroma, it won`t leave you indifferent. In the recipe, you first cook shrimps in the skillet, then add those few ingredients that I have in the list – butter and leek – let them cook for a bit together with shrimps, pour half-half. When the sauce thickens, it is time to add boiled pasta.

Easy Shrimp Pasta Recipe

There is one thing I must confess to you. I still do not consider myself a professional cook, so to speak. I find it difficult to cook several things on the stove at the same time. So, I prefer to cook the pasta first and leave it in a colander. Only then, I start making the sauce. I hope that one day it will be easy for me to mingle the two things at once.

Here are some other pasta recipes that I want to share with you:

Shrimp Pasta Ingredients:

Ingredients for Shrimp Pasta

  • 250 g pasta of your choice;
  • 500 g shrimps;
  • 50 g leek, sliced;
  • 200 ml half-and-half;
  • 1 tbsp. butter, unsalted;
  • 2 tbsps. olive oil;
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to your taste.

How to make pasta with shrimps in creamy sauce:

  • Defrost shrimps beforehand. Take them out of the freezer to the fridge for the night. Drain all the liquid using the colander and peel the shrimps, get rid of the heads (I sometimes prefer leaving tales on).

Defrost shrimps

Here is a tip for you: if you forgot to take shrimps out of the freezer, you can defrost them under running cold water. Just leave them in the colander for several minutes!

  • Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. If you have problems with boiling a perfect pasta, I have several detailed guides where you can find almost every tip possible that can help you with that: How to cook short-cut pasta and How to cook long-length pasta.  Transfer pasta to the colander to drain all the boiling water.

Boil pasta

  • Heat oil in the skillet on medium to high heat. Add shrimps and fry them for a minute on each side.

Cook shrimps in the skillet

  • Add butter and sliced leek to the skillet with shrimps. Cook the mixture for a minute or two.

Add butter and sliced leek

  • Pour half-and-half into the skillet and stir the mixture until combined. Let it boil. Mind that the liquid should not be cold (straight out of the fridge); leave it on the kitchen counter at room temperature when you start cooking.

Pour half and half

  • Add salt and freshly ground black pepper. Sauté the mixture for additional several minutes by constantly stirring until half-and-half thickens.

Cook until the sauce thickens

  • Lower the heat to a minimum and add cooked pasta.

Add cooked pasta

  • Mix until the strings will be evenly covered in creamy sauce. Take the skillet from the stove and cover it with a lid. Leave it covered for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Stir the mixture
