I like to use butter instead of vegetable oil for frying toasts; they turn out tenderer and tastier for me like this. Sometimes I add sugar in the beginning to the egg mixture, but make sure that all the sugar dissolves before soaking bread as it can make toasts burn in the skillet. The outside will be already browned when the inside is still not ready.

Ingredients for the Best French toast:

French toast Ingredients

  • 2 eggs;
  • 180 g milk;
  • 60 g butter;
  • 400 g loaf bread;
  • 1 tbsp. sugar;
  • A pinch of salt.

How to make fluffy French toast at home:

  • Cut bread into thick slices not less than half an inch. For the recipe make sure to use bread, that is several days old. In such a way, slices of toast won`t fell apart while cooking in the skillet.
  • Before making an egg mixture, take eggs out of the fridge and leave them to get to room temperature. Take a deep bowl; add eggs and a pinch of salt.

Combine two medium eggs with a pinch of salt

  • Whisk eggs until well combined.

Whisk until well blended

  • Pour in milk and continue whisking until smooth.

Pour milk and keep whisking

  • Dip each of the bread slices in the egg-milk mixture in turns. Let them soak for some time in the bowl at least for 30 sec (I have read in some recipes that they let loaves of bread soak for 15 minutes, in my case, bread would have already dissolved into pieces).

Dip every slice of bread into the egg milk mixture

  • Let the butter melt in the skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.

Melt butter in the skillet

  • Shake off the excess mixture from the bread slices and put them into the skillet.

Place bread slices in the hot skillet

  • Fry French toasts until golden brown on one side and turn to the other side to get golden. If you have more than one bunch of toasts to cook, every time add a new portion of butter.

Easy French toast recipe with milk

I like to have my French toast without any syrups, jams, or creams. Maximum I add my favorite type of berries (if I have any). That simple but at the same time tender flavor of bread soaked in egg and milk mixture is enough for me. If you do not want to use sprinkle sugar, try adding a teaspoon or two of condensed milk.
