Unleash your culinary creativity with this delightful, creamy parmesan sauce! I’m excited to share a straightforward recipe that features just three key ingredients—easy to make and absolutely delicious! Enjoy cooking!
Alfredo sauce is a rich, thick, cream-based sauce made with flavorful Parmesan cheese and delicate butter. It is commonly used in both classic Italian and American cuisines. You won’t believe how versatile this sauce can be! Of course, there’s the classic Fettuccine Alfredo, but there are many other great options for using this easy yet delicious sauce.
You can add extra creaminess to your salad of choice by using Alfredo sauce instead of the traditional dressing. It also makes a fantastic dip for potato wedges or calamari, as its distinct flavor enhances the dish. Additionally, it can serve as a perfect substitute for sour cream or plain cream in various recipes, including casseroles, pizzas, roasted vegetables, and dishes featuring fish or meat.
Here are my ideas for recipes where you can use Alfredo sauce instead of other creamy ingredients:
- Porcupine Meatballs (use Alfredo sauce instead of sour cream);
- Potato Croquettes with Minced Meat (serve with Alfredo sauce);
- Lazy Cabbage Rolls (use Alfredo sauce instead of sour cream);
- Potato Pancakes with Summer Squash (serve with Alfredo sauce).
Alfredo Sauce Ingredients:

- 200 ml half-and-half cream;
- 50 g parmesan;
- 20 g butter, unsalted;
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to your taste.
How to make homemade Alfredo sauce:
- Half-and-half cream should be at room temperature for the recipe. Take it out of the fridge in advance and let it sit on the counter at least for half an hour.
- Put a skillet on medium heat and melt butter. Make sure not to burn it (if you have a strong stove lower the heat to a minimum).

- Pour cream to melted butter in the skillet and wait until liquid starts boiling. If you still have the heat on medium, lower it. Therefore, that cream will be gently simmering.

- Keep stirring cream constantly while you are cooking. Wait until it thickens. Add salt and pepper.

- Shred parmesan cheese with a fine grater and add it to the skillet with thickened cream. I like to grate cheese immediately before adding to the dish. I think it prevents parmesan from losing its rich aroma.

- Keep skillet on the minimum heat until cheese fully melts. Do not forget to stir to prevent our sauce from sticking and burning!

- Let the sauce cool down a bit before serving! Enjoy!

I’m thrilled you’re considering making my version of Alfredo sauce at home! Its rich flavor and creamy texture complement many delightful dishes. As a friendly tip, when adding half-and-half cream to the skillet, just remember to stir regularly while heating to keep it perfectly smooth and prevent burning. Enjoy the cooking experience, and I look forward to you savoring this delicious sauce!
